Previously only available on compact cassette, ‘The Seaside’ is a collection of songs performed and recorded by Cardiacs between the years 1980-1983. The production of this album on compact disc has been made possible only by recent re-discovery of the original cylinders so ineptly used by Cardiacs in their early attempts at phonographic reproduction. The disc, though lesser in content than the cassette version due to wanton destruction, albeit rumoured accidental, of one or two of the valuable cylinders should nevertheless prove to be a boon to the collector of antique curiosity.
