For those of you who simply don’t have the will to peruse these multitude of pages containing a cacophony of facts, figures, and minutiae regarding CARDIACS and just are requiring of the basic ins and outs of the whole sordid business, THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN have laid here the briefest of introductions to the Band.

    
If you have never seen or heard them, then a gig by Cardiacs almost defies description. It is an event that always leaves the audience moved in some way.
Attempts to describe the music or the goings-on can maybe put the reader off. Many of the now die-hard fans experienced extreme irritation on their first exposure to such uniqueness.
My advice is - Cardiacs go much deeper than they first seem to, listen to the music more than twice and you will understand. They will almost certainly become an indispensable part of your life, and this is because Cardiacs go deeper into people’s hearts than anyone else has done for the past Christ-knows how many years.
This is a big thing to claim for anybody, so why am I so sure - and many others too - that this is so?
What is it about them that lifts them out of the musical rut that seems to be the lot of our times?
It’s because the music is as composed and as tight as a symphonic score and yet played with the freedom, power and energy of The Sex Pistols. It’s because they create not just a new musical style but a
new musical language.
They have learnt lessons from everyone who went before them and never hesitate to use the knowledge.
They never seek to be original, they just are.
Cardiacs have been making music for nearly thirty years. Dip into any one of the albums available and immerse yourself in an ocean of sound. Always intensely unique, always breathtaking, Cardiacs can cram everything you love about music into one song. All the beauty and ugliness of this globe, they map out the geography of that land between sleep and waking.
Fiercely independent, Cardiacs’ music is about everything. Absurdly complex, yet at the same time charmingly accessible and always insanely passionate.
Over the years their sound has grown and sprouted wings.
Shunned by the mainstream, largely ignored or ridiculed by the press, their journey has been a tumultuous one.
They are an inspiration to countless groups and an anathema to even more. In the face of adversity, Cardiacs have relentlessly soldiered on against a tide of indifference.
Their concerts are an explosion of vivid colours and nervous energy, a celebration of this fragile existence, one hair’s breadth away from mortality.
